End of the Road

I thought you'd never leave me,

Leave me in the dust of your success.

I was wrong to believe you,

Believe the comfort I felt was true.

I looked up to you

In every way,

You were my teacher, my preacher, my friend.

My friend above all,

You were my mentor and hope.

Now I know that you'll soon be gone,

Leaving me without one last lesson.

The many lessons I've learned from you

Will forever stick in my heart.

For you I'll go on doing everything I can do

For you I know I will go far.

I cried when I was faced with the truth,

My punishment for loving you so.

Now I look back at all the time I missed with you,

Why didn't I spend more?

Why am I only realizing what you meant to me

When it's time to let you go?

It's been too short

My time with you

I wish that there were more.

No more will there ever be!

You and I are to part now

Forever, from this one last day

You're leaving me without a trace

But you're leaving me with sweet memories.

I cherrish you more now, than ever.

I'm blessed to have seen your face

Felt your touch, heard your voice

Learned every lesson that's now falling to place

Goodbye now, my teacher, my friend

Goodbye now, we've now met our end.
